BEER SLIDING
Spaten knows how Brazilians celebrate: with a great, cold beer. The brand wanted to bring one of its trademarks to the historical heart of São Paulo to kick off beer celebrations in the country, such as Oktoberfest. So, we made it happen. We placed the legendary glass beer mug for Beer Sliding in front of Theatro Municipal.
It was challenging. We had to simulate the swaying liquid while the large mug was in motion. Our Creative Director, Viviane Adade, in collaboration with our Director of Photography, Milton Menezes, decided on a dual approach: one involving creating the mug using CGI and the other entailing on-set filming of the mug to achieve greater realism in the liquid's color, foam shape, and beer bubbles.
The filming combined practical and digital techniques seamlessly, with CGI used to generate additional shadow and caustic render passes that enhanced the final image. The team conducted an in-depth study to guide the integration of these two approaches, ensuring the lighting felt authentic and natural. Careful post-production work brought everything together, creating the impression that the giant mug was genuinely captured on location in the heart of the city.
